The Salem district administration has earmarked 120 acres for the project, which is expected to generate 10,000 direct jobs and 40,000 indirect employment opportunities.

The textile park initiative is part of a broader industrial development plan announced by Chief Minister M K Stalin during a welfare distribution event in Salem on December 11, 2021.

The comprehensive plan included the establishment of a specialized silver ankle chain manufacturing centre and a mini Tidel park at Karuppur to boost employment prospects for engineering graduates.

The mini Tidel park project, which required an investment of Rs 29.5 crore, saw significant progress with its foundation stone laying ceremony conducted by the Chief Minister via video conferencing from Chennai on May 19, 2023. The facility was subsequently inaugurated through virtual means on September 23, 2024.

Minister Rajaa also provided an update on the multi-specialty silver ankle chain manufacturing centre currently under construction at Ariyagoundampatty.

The facility, which will house 102 shops, is nearing completion and is scheduled for inauguration in the coming months.
