Major Investments Announced for Bihar’s Aviation and Industrial Sectors in Budget 2025

ENA State 2025-03-04 15:34:06 Patna, Mar 4 (KNN) Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary announced 52 new initiatives in the state budget on Monday, with a significant focus on aviation, agriculture, industry, and education. Other major areas of development include data computing, migration assistance, and cultural promotion. The upcoming Purnia airport is set to commence operations within the next three months, while three greenfield airports will be built in Rajgir (Nalanda), Sultanganj (Bhagalpur), and Raxaul (East Champaran). Additionally, small airports in Bhagalpur, Valmikinagar, Birpur, Madhubani, Munger, Saharsa, and Muzaffarpur will be developed under the Centres UDAN scheme. The Bihar government plans to revise the Bihar Industrial Investment Incentive Policy, 2016, and introduce a new policy this year. The Bihar Biofuels Production Incentive (Amendment) Policy, 2025, will encourage private and oil marketing companies to set up biogas units. Additionally, the Bihar Food Processing Policy, 2025, and a state pharmaceutical policy will be introduced to boost manufacturing and research. To support farmers, the government will procure pulses like moong, urad, and arhar at Minimum Support Price (MSP) rates, in coordination with cooperative bodies such as the National Cooperative Consumer Federation (NCCF). Rs 1,289 crore has been allocated for modernising 21 existing agricultural marketing yards, with 17 more to be activated. A centre of excellence for gur production will be set up in Pusa (Samastipur). Integrated Centres of Bihar (ICB) will be established in metros like Mumbai and Delhi to promote the states handicrafts, folk art, and local food. Migration counselling and registration centres will be set up in 10 cities, including Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Delhi NCR. Scholarships for general and minority students will be doubled, and pre-matric students from backward and extremely backward caste sections will receive increased financial aid. Hostel subsidies for SC and ST students will rise from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000 per month. Each division will acquire 100 acres for a sports complex built to national standards, with outdoor stadiums planned in every block. A project for secure data storage will be launched to protect against cyber threats. To promote green energy, solar power plants will be installed along canal embankments. These announcements signal Bihars ambitious plans for economic and infrastructural growth in the coming years.
