ENA State 2025-03-04 16:23:25 <p><span style="font-size:14px"><strong>Mumbai, Mar 4 (KNN)</strong> Amazon Web Services (AWS), the cloud computing arm of Amazon, is set to invest approximately USD 8.2 billion in India's western state of Maharashtra over the next few years.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The announcement was made by Indias Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology on Monday, highlighting the countrys push for local cloud data storage.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">According to a report by the International Data Corporation, Indias cloud services market is projected to reach an estimated USD 24.2 billion by 2028.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The growing demand for digital infrastructure has prompted major global tech firms to increase their investments in the region.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, stated that along with the financial investment, the initiative would also contribute to substantial employment growth.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">He added that the investment is expected to materialise by 2029-2030, bringing advanced cloud computing technologies to India.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">AWS plans to deploy its own graphics processing units (GPUs), state-of-the-art cloud management services, and other cutting-edge technologies as part of its expansion.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Amazon already operates two major data centers in India&mdash;one in Mumbai, launched in 2016, and another in Hyderabad, established in 2022.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The move aligns with the companys broader strategy of strengthening its cloud infrastructure in high-growth markets.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">This latest investment comes after Amazons 2023 announcement of an additional USD 2 billion earmarked for boosting its e-commerce operations in India.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">As Asias third-largest economy continues its rapid digital transformation, AWSs investment marks a significant milestone in India's cloud technology and data storage landscape.</span></p> <p><em><strong><span style="font-size:14px">(KNN Bureau)</span></strong></em></p> <p> </p> 41277 https://knnindia.co.in/news/newsdetails/state/amazon-web-services-to-invest-82-billion-in-maharashtra 2025-03-04 16:23:25 knnindia.co.in
