The initiative marks a significant advancement in India's pursuit of sustainable and technology-driven agricultural practices, with the roadshow set to traverse the entire country before concluding in Kanyakumari. The e-Tractor, which was initially unveiled in Delhi, will be showcased across various regions to raise awareness about eco-friendly and cost-effective farming solutions. During the ceremony, the Minister also inaugurated an E-Tiller developed by CSIR-Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute (CMERI), Durgapur. Addressing attendees at the flag-off ceremony, Dr. Singh emphasised the transformative potential of agricultural innovation, stating, This e-Tractor is not just an advanced technological intervention but a step towards ensuring affordable and environment-friendly farming solutions. It reflects our commitment to integrating innovation with agriculture, benefiting both farmers and agri-startups. The Minister highlighted that the e-Tractor aligns with the government's broader objectives of promoting green energy and self-reliance in agriculture. He noted that while conventional farming practices depend on costly fossil fuels, the electric tractor presents a viable alternative that substantially reduces both carbon emissions and operating expenses. Dr. Singh further elaborated that CSIR's initiatives aim to bridge the technological divide in Indian farming by bringing scientific innovations directly to rural communities. CSIR has been actively working on technologies that enhance efficiency and productivity in the agricultural sector. The e-Tractor is an example of how research-driven innovations can be commercialised for widespread adoption, he explained. The Minister also discussed the government's comprehensive efforts to foster agricultural entrepreneurship through supportive policies for agri-startups, rural youth, and women entrepreneurs. He referenced the government's Bio-E3 policy—focusing on Biotechnology for Environment, Economy, and Employment—as ensuring that scientific advancements translate into economic opportunities for farmers. The roadshow is expected to generate significant interest among farmers, agricultural startups, and policymakers throughout its journey from Jammu to Kanyakumari. Through this initiative, CSIR aims to demonstrate how clean-energy solutions can revolutionise Indian agriculture, making it more sustainable, cost-effective, and accessible to a broader segment of the farming community. During the event, Dr. Singh also inaugurated the Agro-Soil Research Laboratory at CSIR-IIIM Chatha Farm, where scientists and researchers will focus on soil testing, agrotechnology development, and plant testing. The Minister concluded by describing the roadshow as not just a demonstration—it is an invitation for farmers to be part of India's agricultural revolution.
