DPIIT Holds Two-day Workshop On Start-up Ranking Framework In Kohima, Nagaland

ENA State 2025-03-11 14:55:57 Kohima, Mar 11 (KNN) The Department of Industry and Commerce, Kohima, in collaboration with the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, launched the two-day SRF 5.0 Knowledge Exchange Workshop (Nagaland Edition) in Kohima on Monday. The States' Start-up Ranking Framework (SRF) is a framework that includes an annual capacity building exercise developed and published by DPIIT to evaluate all of India's states and Union Territories based on their efforts to create ecosystems conducive to start-up growth. During her address to the gathering, Industries and Commerce Advisor Hekani Jakhalu noted that India currently holds the third position globally in start-ups. She attributed this significant achievement to the collective efforts of representatives from various states and union territories who have contributed to positioning the country on the global map. Jakhalu explained that entrepreneurship is a relatively new concept in Nagaland, revealing that in 2013, the state government initiated a program aimed at transforming young people's mindsets and introducing them to entrepreneurial opportunities. To engage and inspire youth, innovative programs were introduced to help them view entrepreneurship as a viable and promising career path rather than a secondary option. Reflecting on current rankings, Jakhalu expressed concern that Nagaland has remained in the aspiring leadership category for three consecutive years. Nevertheless, she remained optimistic that this DPIIT-organised workshop would encourage and motivate stakeholders to work toward improving their standing. She emphasised that such programs facilitate knowledge exchange and experiential learning, which remain valuable throughout life and can lead to meaningful collaborations. Jakhalu described the workshop as an opportunity for networking, fostering relationships, and strengthening bonds, noting that networking has played a key role in India's current success. The advisor also highlighted that the program presents an opportunity for the entire North Eastern region to come together, learn from one another, and strengthen their collective growth. Jakhalu extended her appreciation to Amardeep Singh Bhatia, Secretary, DPIIT, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, for approving and supporting the initiative in Nagaland. Earlier in the program, Dr. Sumeet Jarangal, Director, DPIIT, delivered the keynote address, while P. Tokugha Sema, Director, Department of Industries & Commerce, offered the welcome address. Keneirienuo T. Zatsu, Deputy Director, Department of Industries and Commerce and Team Leader of Start-up Nagaland, highlighted the journey of Nagaland's Start-up Ecosystem.
