New Delhi, Mar 24 (KNN) The Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) Delhi East Commissionerate successfully conducted a two-day GST Registration Campaign on March 21-22, 2025.

The initiative aimed to promote compliance and awareness among unregistered manufacturers and traders.

During the campaign, GST officers addressed over 2,000 queries from potential registrants, leading to the generation of more than 100 fresh GST registration applications.

Additionally, 7,500 pamphlets in Hindi and Urdu outlining GST provisions were distributed to spread awareness.

Helpdesks were set up at key locations, including Hallan Chowk, Old Seelampur, Gole Baithak, Jacket Market of Jaffrabad, Subhash Road, and New Seelampur.

The response from the trade community was highly encouraging, particularly from businesses that previously conducted transactions primarily in cash.

A unique aspect of the campaign was the involvement of 200 university students as GST Ambassadors. These students conducted door-to-door visits, briefed traders on GST benefits, and assisted with survey collection.

They worked under the guidance of GST officials, including 10 Assistant/Deputy Commissioners and 80 supporting staff members. The students academic expertise in marketing and sales was leveraged to generate potential leads for GST officers.

The campaign also featured skits, street plays, and public announcements organised by the National School of Drama (NSD) to educate the public on the importance of tax compliance.

Under the leadership of Pawan Kumar, Commissioner of CGST Delhi East, and key officials, the campaign successfully promoted formalisation in the economy.

Mahesh Kumar Rustogi, Director General, DGTS, lauded the initiative, emphasising its role in Indias economic growth and envisioning its expansion nationwide.
