MeitY Hosts Landmark Nano Electronics Roadshow At IISc Bengaluru

ENA Sectors 2025-03-28 14:38:46 Bengaluru, Mar 28 (KNN) The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) successfully hosted India's inaugural Nano Electronics Roadshow on Thursday, marking a significant milestone in the country's semiconductor ecosystem development. The event, held at the National Science Seminar Complex in IISc Bengaluru, brought together over 700 industry leaders, policymakers, and academics to showcase technological advancements and foster collaboration. MeitY Secretary S. Krishnan emphasized the strategic importance of the roadshow, highlighting the government's commitment to developing a robust semiconductor infrastructure. He noted that India's semiconductor demand is projected to grow from $45-50 billion currently to $100-110 billion by 2030, with a targeted workforce of 85,000 professionals in the sector. The roadshow demonstrated India's technological prowess by presenting over 100 intellectual properties and more than 50 technologies from six nanoelectronics centers. Participating institutions, including IISc Bengaluru, IIT Bombay, IIT Madras, IIT Delhi, IIT Kharagpur, and IIT Guwahati, showcased 48 cutting-edge technology demonstrations. A key highlight of the event was the collaborative spirit, evidenced by the signing of four memorandums of understanding between academic institutions and industry partners. These partnerships aim to accelerate the transition of advanced technologies from research laboratories to practical applications. Additional Secretary Abhishek Singh underscored the event's significance in driving technological innovation, particularly through initiatives like the India AI mission and the INUP program. The roadshow not only celebrated technological achievements but also recognized innovative start-ups contributing to India's technological ecosystem. Prominent figures attending the event included Utpal Shah from Tata Electronics, Anand Ramamoorthy from Micron, Govindan Rangarajan, Director of IISc, and Dr. V. Narayanan, Chair of ISRO, among other industry and academic leaders. The Nano Electronics Roadshow represents a critical step in India's mission to establish a self-reliant semiconductor ecosystem, aligning with the government's Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India) vision.
