PM Modi Inaugurates Development Projects Worth Rs 33,700 Cr In Chhattisgarh

ENA State 2025-03-31 15:53:41 Raipur, Mar 31 (KNN) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for multiple development projects worth over Rs 33,700 crore across various sectors during an event held at Mohbhattha village in Bilaspur district, Chhattisgarh. The ceremony marked a significant push toward infrastructure development in the state, encompassing power generation, transportation, energy distribution, and education. During the event, Prime Minister Modi flagged off the Mainline Electric Multiple Unit (MEMU) train service in the Abhanpur-Raipur section via Mandir Hasaud. He also symbolically handed over house keys (replicas) to three beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G), highlighting the government's commitment to rural housing. In the power sector, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for NTPCs Sipat Super Thermal Power Project Stage-III (1x800MW) in Bilaspur district. This state-of-the-art pithead project, with an investment exceeding Rs 9,790 crore, will utilise Ultra-Supercritical Technology to achieve high power generation efficiency. Once commissioned, the addition will increase the total installed capacity of Sipat STPS to 3,780 MW. Modi also launched the First Super Critical Thermal Power Project (2X660MW) of Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Limited (CSPGCL), valued at Rs 15,800 crore. Additionally, he dedicated three power transmission projects collectively worth over Rs 560 crore under the Western Region Expansion Scheme (WRES) by Power Grid. The energy sector received significant attention with the Prime Minister laying the foundation stone for Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd's City Gas Distribution (CGD) project. Valued at Rs 1,285 crore, this initiative will cover the districts of Koriya, Surajpur, Balrampur, and Surguja, involving the installation of over 200 km of high-pressure pipelines and more than 800 km of MDPE pipelines, along with CNG dispensing outlets. Modi also initiated the Visakh-Raipur Pipeline (VRPL) project of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL), spanning 540 km with an investment of Rs 2,210 crore. This multi-product pipeline will have a capacity exceeding three million metric tonnes per annum and will transport petrol, diesel, and kerosene. In the railway sector, the Prime Minister laid the foundation for seven new projects covering 108 km and inaugurated three completed railway projects worth Rs 2,690 crore, covering 111 km. He also dedicated the achievement of 100 percent electrification of the Indian Railways network in Chhattisgarh. Infrastructure development featured prominently with the inauguration of the upgraded 37 km Jhalmala to Sherpar section of NH-930 and the 75 km Ambikapur-Pathalgaon section of NH-43, both now converted to two-lane roads with paved shoulders. Modi also laid the foundation stone for the 47.5 km Kondagaon-Narayanpur section of NH-130D. These road projects, valued at over Rs 1,270 crore, are expected to substantially improve accessibility to tribal and industrial areas, fostering overall regional development. In the education sector, the Prime Minister dedicated two significant initiatives: 130 PM SHRI Schools across 29 districts and the Vidya Samiksha Kendra (VSK) in Raipur. Under the PM Schools for Rising India scheme, 130 schools will be upgraded with advanced infrastructure, including smart boards, modern laboratories, and libraries. The VSK will facilitate online monitoring and data analysis of various education-related government schemes.
