ENA State 2025-06-20 14:05:47 <p><span style="font-size:14px"><strong>Chennai, Jun 20 (KNN)</strong> The Tamil Nadu state government is reviewing a proposal from the Ambattur Industrial Estate Manufacturers Association (AIEMA) to allocate 1,000 acres of land for establishing a new industrial estate within a 50-kilometer radius of Chennai. </span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The proposal aims to address growing space constraints faced by manufacturers in the existing Ambattur industrial area.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Chief Minister M.K. Stalin announced during his inaugural address at the 16th edition of ACMEE 2025 that the request submitted by AIEMA President R.S.S. Satish Babu will certainly be considered.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Babu emphasised in his remarks that manufacturers in Ambattur are experiencing significant space limitations and argued that a new industrial estate on the city's outskirts would support the Chief Minister's objective of transforming Tamil Nadu into a USD 1 trillion economy.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The Chief Minister highlighted Tamil Nadu's position as the third-ranked state in India for registered Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), with over 3.5 million units that generate 24.7 million jobs. </span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">He noted that the state contributes 11.9 percent to India's manufacturing Gross Value Added (GVA) and maintains leadership in the production of motor vehicles, garments, and leather goods, while ranking second nationally in textiles, machinery, and electronics manufacturing.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Stalin outlined his government's financial commitment to the MSME sector, stating that Rs 6,626 crore had been allocated over three years, compared to Rs 3,617.6 crore during the previous AIADMK administration. </span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The current year's allocation stands at Rs 1,918.2 crore for MSME development initiatives.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The biennial ACMEE exhibition, organised by AIEMA, has expanded from 435 to 468 exhibitors and now features 120 international brands, reflecting the growing industrial presence in the region.</span></p> <p><em><strong><span style="font-size:14px">(KNN Bureau)</span></strong></em></p> 42518 https://knnindia.co.in/news/newsdetails/state/tamil-nadu-govt-considers-proposal-for-new-1000-acre-industrial-estate-near-chennai 2025-06-20 14:05:47 knnindia.co.in
