New Delhi, Aug 22 (KNN) The Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) is actively promoting the growth and development of food processing industries across India through a range of incentive-based schemes.

These include two Central Sector Schemes Pradhan Mantri Kisan SAMPADA Yojana (PMKSY) and Production Linked Incentive Scheme for Food Processing Industry (PLISFPI) and a Centrally Sponsored Scheme, PM Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME).

All three schemes are demand-driven and implemented nationwide, including in Bihar, providing financial, technical, and business support to entrepreneurs in the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector.

The initiatives aim to encourage both the setup and expansion of food processing infrastructure.

Under the PMFME scheme, individual micro enterprises can avail a credit-linked capital subsidy of 35 per cent of the eligible project cost, with a maximum limit of Rs 10 lakh per unit.

As of June 30, 2025, a total of 1,44,517 micro food processing enterprises have received approval for financial assistance.

The scheme also includes a Capacity Building component, which provides training for trainers, district resource persons, entrepreneurs, and other stakeholders in entrepreneurship development and product-specific skills. So far, 1,16,666 beneficiaries have been trained under PMFME.

Projects approved under PMKSY and PLISFPI also cover the MSME category, further driving sector growth.

In Bihar, MoFPI has approved 13 projects under PMKSY, 7 under PLISFPI, and 25,349 proposals under PMFME till June 30, 2025.

These initiatives act as a key catalyst for the growth and formalization of the states food processing industry, supporting entrepreneurship and enhancing employment opportunities.
