India, Japan To Deepen Clean Energy Partnership With Focus On Security, Transition & Climate Goals

ENA Global 2025-08-26 15:29:04 New Delhi, Aug 26 (KNN) India and Japan have reaffirmed their commitment to deepen cooperation in the energy sector under the Japan India Clean Energy Partnership, with a shared focus on energy security, clean energy transition, and climate change mitigation. The two countries institutionalised this cooperation through the India Japan Energy Dialogue and multiple sectoral Joint Working Groups (JWGs). As part of this framework, a ministerial-level Energy Dialogue was held virtually on Monday, co-chaired by Manohar Lal, Indias Minister of Power and Housing & Urban Affairs, and Muto Yoji, Japans Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry. Senior officials from Indias Ministry of Power (MoP), Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG), and Ministry of Coal participated in the discussions, presenting progress made under their respective JWGs and outlining future priorities. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to advancing collaboration in areas including energy efficiency, clean hydrogen, ammonia, and renewable energy. They also agreed to expand cooperation into emerging domains such as carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS), green chemicals, biofuels, and advanced energy technologies. The ministers underscored that the India Japan partnership will remain central to building secure, resilient, and sustainable energy systems across the Indo-Pacific region, while supporting inclusive growth and shared climate goals.
