ENA Global 2025-08-29 14:52:35 <p><span style="font-size:14px"><strong>New Delhi, Aug 29 (KNN)</strong> India and Bhutan signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance collaboration in agriculture and allied sectors, marking a new chapter in the long-standing partnership between the two countries. </span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The agreement was signed in Thimphu by Devesh Chaturvedi, Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India, and Thinley Namgyel, Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, Royal Government of Bhutan.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The MoU provides a framework for cooperation in agricultural research and innovation, livestock health and production, post-harvest management, value chain development, and capacity building through the exchange of knowledge and expertise. </span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Both sides underscored that the agreement reflects a shared commitment to food security, sustainable farming, and rural prosperity.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Following the signing, the first session of the Joint Technical Working Group (JTWG) was convened, where both countries agreed on the Terms of Reference and identified priority areas for immediate action. </span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The discussions covered a wide range of subjects, including agricultural marketing, cooperatives, food processing, seed sector development, research and technology collaboration, and capacity building initiatives.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Chaturvedi highlighted Indias recent initiatives to strengthen agriculture, including the use of digital solutions, promotion of climate-resilient practices, enhanced credit access, and risk mitigation measures for farmers. </span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Both sides agreed to hold the next JTWG meeting in India at a mutually convenient date.</span></p> <p><em><strong><span style="font-size:14px">(KNN Bureau)</span></strong></em></p> 43322 https://knnindia.co.in/news/newsdetails/global/india-bhutan-sign-mou-to-strengthen-cooperation-in-agriculture-allied-sectors 2025-08-29 14:52:35 knnindia.co.in
