ENA Economy 2025-08-29 17:48:29 <p><span style="font-size:14px"><strong>New Delhi, Aug 29 (KNN)</strong> Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal launched the curtain raiser for Bharat Buildcon 2026 on Thursday, expressing confidence that India's exports will exceed last year's figures while announcing new trade opportunities with developed nations.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Speaking at the event in New Delhi, Goyal stated that the government is committed to protecting domestic industry from unilateral actions by foreign countries and called on sector representatives to identify areas requiring alternative markets.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The Commerce Ministry is actively engaging with global partners to create new trading opportunities, he said.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The minister emphasised that boosting domestic consumption remains a government priority, noting that an upcoming GST Council meeting is expected to introduce measures to stimulate demand and support domestic manufacturing.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">He assured attendees that the government aims to ensure no sector is left behind in accessing either international markets or domestic opportunities.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The minister specifically highlighted a significant opportunity in Australia's construction sector, where he said nearly one million homes are needed.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Goyal invited Indian businesses, workers, and technical experts to pursue this market, noting that Australia is open to financial collaboration and workforce support from India. </span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Training and certification programs are being offered to help Indian professionals meet Australian standards.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Bharat Buildcon 2026 is scheduled to take place from April 29 to May 2, 2026, at Yashobhoomi Convention Centre in New Delhi.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The event is positioned as India's flagship international platform for the building and construction materials industry, which is valued at over USD 1 trillion and employs millions of workers across 37 allied sectors including cement, ceramics, tiles, and electrical components.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Goyal encouraged organisers to make the 2026 edition a self-sufficient, industry-led initiative and suggested expanding the event beyond the capital to other parts of the country. </span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">He called for wider participation from allied sectors and international stakeholders to create a global platform for the industry.</span></p> <p><em><strong><span style="font-size:14px">(KNN Bureau)</span></strong></em></p> 43330 https://knnindia.co.in/news/newsdetails/economy/piyush-goyal-launches-bharat-buildcon-2026-curtain-raiser 2025-08-29 17:48:29 knnindia.co.in
