ENA Sectors 2025-09-04 16:28:04 <p><span style="font-size:14px"><strong>New Delhi, Sep 4 (KNN)</strong> Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal on Wednesday chaired a meeting with Export Promotion Councils (EPCs) and industry associations to review the impact of rising global tariffs and discuss measures to safeguard Indias trade competitiveness. </span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Senior officials from the Department of Commerce and the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) also participated.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The deliberations focused on recent tariff increases imposed on certain Indian products in key international markets. </span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Exporters flagged concerns over reduced competitiveness and sought targeted, sector-specific support to mitigate the impact.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Goyal reaffirmed the governments commitment to protecting exporters interests, stating that efforts are underway to create an enabling environment and ensure sustained export growth. </span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">He urged exporters to focus on upgrading product quality, meeting global standards, diversifying supply chains, and exploring new markets.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Representatives from sectors including textiles, apparel, engineering, gems and jewellery, leather, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, and services presented their concerns. </span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">While welcoming the governments proactive engagement, industry groups assured full cooperation in strengthening Indias trade resilience.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Highlighting the need for long-term solutions, Goyal stressed that Indias broader strategy is to expand domestic manufacturing and boost exports while easing compliance and addressing sectoral bottlenecks. </span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">He said the government would continue to support exporters through ease of doing business measures, targeted trade interventions, and timely policy support.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Industry associations broadly agreed on the importance of exploring alternative mechanisms and diversifying markets in response to global tariff challenges.</span></p> <p><em><strong><span style="font-size:14px">(KNN Bureau)</span></strong></em></p> 43389 https://knnindia.co.in/news/newsdetails/sectors/piyush-goyal-reviews-tariff-impact-on-exports-assures-support-to-industry 2025-09-04 16:28:04 knnindia.co.in
