ENA Sectors 2025-09-08 14:40:41 <p><span style="font-size:14px"><strong>New Delhi, Sep 8 (KNN)</strong> Industry leaders, policymakers and stakeholders will convene in New Delhi on September 8 9 for the Steel Conclave 2025 to deliberate on strategies for strengthening the sector through technology adoption, sustainable practices and raw material security. </span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Union Steel Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy and Minister of State for Heavy Industries and Steel Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Varma will address the two-day event, organised by the Indian Steel Association (ISA).</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px"> The event will cover leadership for growth of the steel industry, leveraging AI in the steel value chain, increasing iron ore availability for Aatmanirbharta, and financing steel's transition to green growth, industry body Indian Steel Association (ISA) said in a statement, according to the ET. </span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Participants will also examine measures to decarbonise the sector, manage price risks, and improve logistics and infrastructure efficiency.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">ISA President Naveen Jindal said We are working towards a resilient, future-ready steel sector that strengthens India's position globally while addressing sustainability imperatives. </span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">In a separate statement, ISA welcomed the governments decision to reduce GST on renewable energy products from 12 percent to 5 percent, noting that the move would accelerate the shift to green power, reduce reliance on coal-based energy, and significantly lower emissions.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The steel industry accounts for about 20 percent of Indias total industrial energy consumption, with nearly 85 percent sourced from coal-based power. </span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Given its high carbon intensity, energy transition is seen as a critical factor in lowering the sectors overall emissions footprint.</span></p> <p><em><strong><span style="font-size:14px">(KNN Bureau)</span></strong></em></p> 43422 https://knnindia.co.in/news/newsdetails/sectors/steel-conclave-2025-to-focus-on-ai-green-transition-raw-material-security 2025-09-08 14:40:41 knnindia.co.in
