ENA Sectors 2025-09-24 17:44:53 <p><span style="font-size:14px"><strong>New Delhi, Sep 24 (KNN)</strong> Union Minister for Agriculture, Farmers Welfare and Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, approved large-scale procurement of pulses and oilseeds in Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat for the Kharif 2025 26 season. </span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The decision, expected to benefit farmers directly, covers procurement worth Rs 13,890.60 crore.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">In Uttar Pradesh, the Centre sanctioned 100 percent procurement of 2.27 lakh tonnes of urad (Rs 1,777.30 crore) and 1.13 lakh tonnes of tur (Rs 910.24 crore). </span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Additional approvals include 1,983 tonnes of moong (Rs 17.38 crore), 30,410 tonnes of sesame (Rs 299.42 crore) and 99,438 tonnes of groundnut (Rs 722.22 crore).</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">For Gujarat, approvals cover 47,780 tonnes of urad (Rs 372.68 crore), 1.09 lakh tonnes of soybean (Rs 585.57 crore), 12.62 lakh tonnes of groundnut (Rs 9,167.08 crore) and 4,415 tonnes of moong (Rs 38.71 crore).</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The approvals followed a virtual meeting chaired by Chouhan, attended by Uttar Pradesh Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi, Gujarat Agriculture Minister Raghavji Patel, Union Agriculture Secretary Devesh Chaturvedi and senior officials of both states.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Chouhan directed the states to ensure that procurement is carried out in a transparent and fully digital manner, with Aadhaar-based biometric or facial authentication and POS machines&mdash;around 350 in Uttar Pradesh and 400 in Gujarat. </span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">He stressed that only genuine farmers should benefit, and middlemen must be kept out of the process.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The minister also highlighted that procurement would be facilitated through the e-Samriddhi and e-Samyukti portals, enabling direct payment into farmers bank accounts.
