New Delhi, Oct 13 (KNN) The Ministry of Labour and Employment has launched the Employees Enrolment Campaign 2025 (EEC 2025) to bring more workers under the ambit of organised social security through the Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO).

The campaign will be active from November 1, 2025, to April 30, 2026, following the successful enrolment drive of 2017.

The initiative encourages both existing and newly covered employers under the Employees Provident Funds and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1952 to voluntarily declare and enroll eligible employees who joined between July 1, 2017, and October 31, 2025, but were not previously registered under the EPF scheme.

In a major relief, the employees share of provident fund contribution for the past period will be waived, provided it was not deducted from wages.

Employers will only be required to pay their own share for the respective period, along with a nominal penal damage of Rs 100 as a lump sum—significantly lower than standard penalties.

All establishments, including those under inquiry under relevant EPF provisions, can participate in the campaign.

Employers availing the scheme will not face suomotu compliance actions by EPFO for employees who have left the establishment before the date of declaration.

Additionally, employers registering or declaring new employees under EEC 2025 will be eligible for benefits under the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rojgar Yojana (PMVBRY), subject to applicable conditions.

Declarations must be made online through the EPFO portal, linking employee details with the Electronic Challan-cum-Return (Temporary Return Reference Number) and paying the Rs 100 penal damage.

The government expects EEC 2025 to significantly enhance employee enrolment under social security, help employers regularise past records with minimal financial burden, and facilitate ease of doing business across the organised sector.

(KNN Bureau)
