ENA Sectors 2025-10-21 19:01:54 New Delhi, Oct 21 (KNN) The upcoming Renewable Energy India (REI) Expo 2025 is expected to generate more than Rs 1,800 crore in fresh investment commitments for Indias bioenergy sector, the Indian Biogas Association (IBA) said on Sunday. In a statement, the association noted that biogas will be the central focus at this years event, highlighting its growing importance in Indias transition towards green growth. The three-day expo, scheduled from October 30 to November 1, 2025, at the India Expo Centre, Greater Noida, aims to showcase the sectors expansion and investment potential. According to IBA, the bioenergy sector is experiencing unprecedented momentum with the government scaling up the SATAT (Sustainable Alternative Towards Affordable Transportation) scheme, commissioning new compressed biogas (CBG) plants across states, and positioning biogas as a critical feedstock for future fuels such as methanol and di-methyl ether, reported PTI. This years Bio-Energy Pavilion, organised by IBA and supported by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), will be the largest to date, featuring 30 percent more exhibitors than in 2024. The pavilion will host global technology leaders, startups, and policymakers, and will spotlight innovations in waste-to-energy, CBG technologies, co-digestion systems, and digital monitoring solutions. IBA President AR Shukla said, India is no longer looking at biogas as just a rural solution. It is now a cornerstone of the clean energy economy, reducing carbon emissions, supporting farmers, fuelling transport, and enabling the green economy. REI 2025 will demonstrate how the sector is scaling from pilot projects to nationwide impact . The REI Expo 2025 is expected to attract over 60,000 participants from around the world, representing diverse sectors such as bioenergy, solar, wind, hydrogen, e-mobility, and energy storage. IBA Chairman Gaurav Kedia said, Biogas is more than just clean energy; it is economic security and is playing a key role in development-led energy transition. With India's potential to generate over 62 million tons of CBG annually, we can cut down fuel imports, create thousands of rural and urban jobs, and build a truly circular economy . Kedia added that REI 2025 will serve as a pivotal platform for investors, innovators, and policymakers to shape the next phase of Indias bioenergy growth. The IBA emphasised that biogas is set to play a dual role — reducing fossil fuel imports through large-scale CBG adoption and advancing Indias Net Zero Mission by making clean energy more accessible and affordable. Last years expo recorded Rs 1,850 crore in investment commitments and multiple memoranda of understanding (MoUs), underscoring the growing investor confidence in Indias renewable energy ecosystem.
