ENA Sectors 2025-10-22 18:18:03 <p><span style="font-size:14px"><strong>New Delhi, Oct 22 (KNN)</strong> India is emerging as one of the worlds fastest-growing renewable energy markets, adding between 15 25 gigawatts (GW) of clean energy capacity every year, according to the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Over the past decade, Indias installed renewable capacity (excluding large hydro) has surged more than fivefold &mdash; from less than 35 GW in 2014 to over 197 GW today. This robust expansion now positions the country among global leaders in renewable deployment.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">However, the MNRE said the sectors focus is gradually shifting from rapid expansion to building a strong, integrated, and reliable clean energy system. </span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The emphasis is now on moving from speed to system strength, from quantity to quality, and from expansion to enduring integration.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The ministry also acknowledged ongoing challenges such as supply-chain disruptions, fluctuating module prices, and limited financing, which have impacted commissioning timelines. </span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">To counter these, India is prioritising grid integration, storage and hybrid systems, and strengthening transmission infrastructure.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">More than 40 GW of renewable projects are already in advanced stages of development, with power purchase agreements and transmission connectivity being finalised. </span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Additionally, central and state agencies have initiated new bids for solar and wind projects, while commercial and industrial consumers are expected to contribute about 6 GW of new capacity in 2025 alone.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">India is also implementing a Rs 2.4 lakh crore Green Energy Corridor plan to improve grid connectivity between renewable-rich states such as Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Ladakh and major consumption centres. </span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">This project is expected to unlock over 200 GW of additional clean energy capacity in the coming years.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">With strong policy support and infrastructure expansion, India continues to solidify its position as a global renewable energy powerhouse.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px"><em><strong>(KNN Bureau)</strong></em></span></p> 43854 https://knnindia.co.in/news/newsdetails/sectors/india-among-fastest-growing-renewable-energy-markets-installed-renewable-capacity-up-five-fold-since-2014 2025-10-22 18:18:03 knnindia.co.in
