ENA Sectors 2025-11-21 16:45:40 <p><span style="font-size:14px"><strong>New Delhi, Nov 21 (KNN)</strong> Indias total foodgrain production for 2024-25 has reached an all-time high of 357.73 million tonnes, marking nearly 8 percent growth over last years 332.30 million tonnes, according to final estimates released by the Ministry of Agriculture.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan thanked farmers for the achievement, noting that foodgrain output has risen by over 106 million tonnes in the past decade, from 251.54 million tonnes in 2015-16 to 357.73 million tonnes this year.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Rice production reached a record 150.18 million tonnes, while wheat output increased to 117.94 million tonnes. Production of maize and millets also saw significant growth, reaching 43.40 million tonnes and 18.59 million tonnes respectively.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Oilseed output rose to an estimated 42.99 million tonnes in 2024 25 from 39.67 million tonnes last year, supported by higher soybean and groundnut production.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Pulses such as moong showed notable increases, and the Minister said the governments Self Reliance in Pulses Mission is expected to further accelerate production. </span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Minister said that assured Minimum Support price (MSP) procurement for tur, urad, chana and moong continues to benefit large numbers of farmers.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">He added that the government will maintain its focus on farmer welfare and productivity enhancement to sustain the sectors growth momentum.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px"><em><strong>(KNN Bureau)</strong></em></span></p> 44162 https://knnindia.co.in/news/newsdetails/sectors/indias-foodgrain-output-climbs-to-record-35773-million-tonnes-in-202425-agriculture-ministry 2025-11-21 16:45:40 knnindia.co.in
