Mines Ministry Reviews Progress Of Rs 1,500 Cr Critical Mineral Recycling Incentive Scheme

ENA Sectors 2025-11-26 17:43:52 New Delhi, Nov 26 (KNN) The progress of the Rs 1,500-crore Incentive Scheme for Critical Mineral Recycling was reviewed by Piyush Goyal, Secretary, Ministry of Mines. Officials from the Ministry and representatives of the Jawaharlal Nehru Aluminium Research, Development & Design Centre (JNARDDC), Nagpur the Project Management Agency (PMA) for the scheme — participated in the review. The Ministry noted that a significant number of potential beneficiaries have already registered on the designated application portal. The scheme, approved by the Union Cabinet on 3 September 2025 and launched on 2 October 2025, forms a core component of the National Critical Mineral Mission. It aims to create domestic capacity to recycle up to 3 lakh tonnes annually for extraction of critical minerals from secondary sources such as electronic waste, spent lithium-ion batteries and industrial scrap. Applications for the scheme will remain open from 2 October 2025 to 1 April 2026. The PMA also offered hands-on support to stakeholders facing technical challenges in navigating the online application system. During the review, the Mines Secretary instructed JNARDDC to continue organising such consultations throughout the implementation period to ensure broader stakeholder awareness and smoother participation. JNARDDC reaffirmed its commitment to extend ongoing assistance through a helpdesk and timely clarifications, supporting the schemes objective of strengthening Indias critical mineral recycling ecosystem.
