KVIC Presents New-Age Khadi At Navyug Fashion Show In Delhi

ENA Sectors 2025-12-01 18:19:59 New Delhi, Dec 1 (KNN) The Navyug Khadi Fashion Show was held at the National Crafts Museum, Pragati Maidan, highlighting modern and innovative expressions of Khadi as part of the New Khadi of New India initiative. The event was jointly hosted by the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), the Centre of Excellence for Khadi (CoEK), the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) and the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI). It featured contemporary garments, accessories and home décor products crafted by Khadi institutions from across the country. An accompanying exhibition also marked the launch of the Khadi Knowledge Portal (Volume II). KVIC Chairman Manoj Kumar, attending as Chief Guest, praised the work of Khadi artisans and said Khadi has transformed, evolving from a traditional fabric into a symbol of patriotism, sustainability and modern Indian lifestyle. He reiterated the Prime Ministers guiding mantra, Khadi for Nation, Khadi for Fashion, and Khadi for Transformation, which has bestowed Khadi with a renewed identity. He said New-Era Khadi reflects a blend of design, technology and tradition, and is increasingly embraced by the younger generation and global markets. The show featured diverse regional crafts including Ikat from Odisha, Eri silk from Assam, Tangaliya from Gujarat, silk from Karnataka, cotton from Bengal and traditional weaves from Telangana and Bihar. A notable moment saw Khadi artisans and institutional representatives walk the ramp alongside the KVIC Chairman, symbolising the fabrics journey from village to glamour.
