ENA Sectors 2025-12-09 18:17:19 <p><span style="font-size:14px"><strong>New Delhi, Dec 9 (KNN)</strong> Minister of State (MoS) for Textiles Pabitra Margherita on Tuesday said that as many as 24 startups have been approved under Grant for Research and Entrepreneurship across Aspiring Innovators in Technical Textiles (GREAT) scheme.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The scheme under the National Technical Textiles Mission (NTTM) provides support to the start-up ecosystem in India by assisting young innovators, scientists, technologists, and start-ups in translating their technical textile ideas into commercial products.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">In written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha today, MoS Margherita said that under the GREAT scheme each approved proposal may receive financial support of up to Rs. 50 lakh. </span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The Minister said that 24 start-ups have so far been approved under the scheme at a total cost of Rs. 12.16 crore, of which Rs. 10.79 crore is the Government of Indias share. </span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">These start-ups span diverse domains including advanced functional textiles, smart textiles, energy-harvesting fabrics, high-performance composites, sustainable bio-based innovations, and medical and healthcare textile solutions.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The Minister highlighted that a Review and Monitoring Committee has been constituted under the scheme to assess and oversee the progress of approved start-ups. </span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Public events, workshops, seminars, and outreach activities are also organised nationwide to facilitate industry engagement, scale-up of start-up projects, and dissemination of information about the scheme.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Margherita further explained the eligibility criteria under the GREAT guidelines. </span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Individual applicants must be Indian citizens aged 21 or above, affiliated with or incubated at a recognised incubator, and must establish a start-up company before the release of the grant. </span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The Minister said these initiatives aim to strengthen innovation, entrepreneurship, and commercialisation of technical textiles in India, thereby fostering employment generation, technological advancement, and sustainable growth in the sector.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px"><em><strong>(KNN Bureau)</strong></em></span></p> 44366 https://knnindia.co.in/news/newsdetails/sectors/24-statups-approved-under-great-scheme-says-mos-textiles 2025-12-09 18:17:19 knnindia.co.in
