ENA State 2025-12-16 17:17:11 <p><span style="font-size:14px"><strong>Mumbai, Dec 16 (KNN)</strong> The government has proposed the development of a Multi-Modal Logistics Park (MMLP) in Nashik, Maharashtra, aimed at improving supply chain efficiency and reducing logistics costs under the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan, Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal said in Lok Sabha.</span></p> <p><strong><span style="font-size:14px">Objectives and Benefits of MMLPs</span></strong></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Multi-Modal Logistics Parks (MMLPs) are large, integrated freight hubs that connect road, rail, air, and sea transport, providing storage, material handling, and distribution facilities while enabling value-added services such as sorting, grading, packaging, labeling, and assembling. </span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">They offer significant benefits by combining multiple transport modes in a single location, reducing transport and handling costs through efficient modal shifts, enhancing delivery speed, improving inventory management, and enabling effective cargo tracking. </span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Additionally, MMLPs support local industries and create employment opportunities once operational. </span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The PM GatiShakti initiative aids MMLP planning by identifying suitable sites, minimising impact on natural resources, and visualising infrastructure such as roads, railways, and utilities using GIS-based data.</span></p> <p><strong><span style="font-size:14px">Project Status and Implementation</span></strong></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The Nashik MMLP is proposed to be developed by National Highway Logistics Management Ltd (NHLML), a MoRTH-owned company, with an estimated investment of Rs 850 crore. </span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The project is currently at the appraisal stage and awaits approval.
