ENA State 2025-12-18 17:11:34 <p><span style="font-size:14px"><strong>Lucknow, Dec 18 (KNN)</strong> Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Suresh Gopi, informed the Lok Sabha on Thursday that no monthly or annual targets have been set for establishing or expanding Compressed Biogas (CBG) plants or Green Hydrogen projects in Uttar Pradesh, as these initiatives are largely driven by entrepreneurs based on techno-commercial considerations.</span></p> <p><strong><span style="font-size:14px">Status of CBG Projects in Uttar Pradesh</span></strong></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The Minister stated that the Government is promoting CBG projects across the country, including Uttar Pradesh, through a Whole of Government approach under the GOBARdhan initiative, involving multiple Ministries and Departments. </span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The role of the Centre is limited to creating an enabling ecosystem, while project implementation is undertaken by private players and other interested entities.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">According to data available on the GOBARdhan portal, Uttar Pradesh currently has 36 functional CBG plants, while another 70 projects are at various stages of construction.</span></p> <p><strong><span style="font-size:14px">Green Hydrogen Projects and State Policy</span></strong></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">On green hydrogen, he noted that the Government is implementing the National Green Hydrogen Mission with the objective of positioning India as a global hub for the production, use and export of green hydrogen and its derivatives. </span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">In line with this, the Uttar Pradesh government has notified the Green Hydrogen Policy 2024, which seeks to promote a green hydrogen and green ammonia ecosystem in the State.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA) has informed that two green hydrogen projects have been established in the State so far.</span></p> <p><strong><span style="font-size:14px">Specialised Training and Centres of Excellence</span></strong></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">UPNEDA has indicated that the Uttar Pradesh Green Hydrogen Policy 2024 provides for the establishment of two Centres of Excellence (CoE) in collaboration with institutions such as IIT-BHU, Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology, Gorakhpur, and other technical institutions to strengthen research, technology development and human resource capacity building.</span></p> <p><em><strong><span style="font-size:14px">(KNN Bureau)</span></strong></em></p> 44474 https://knnindia.co.in/news/newsdetails/state/no-fixed-targets-for-cbg-or-green-hydrogen-projects-in-up-says-suresh-gopi 2025-12-18 17:11:34 knnindia.co.in
