ENA Sectors 2026-01-09 13:44:14 <p><span style="font-size:14px"><strong>New Delhi, Jan 9 (KNN)</strong> On the inaugural day of the National Textiles Ministers Conference in Guwahati, the Ministry of Textiles (MoT) took a significant step towards strengthening evidence-based policymaking by signing Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with 15 States.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px"><strong>MoUs Signed Under Tex-RAMPS Scheme</strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The MoUs, signed between the Ministry of Textiles and the respective State governments, are part of the Textiles-focused Research, Assessment, Monitoring, Planning and Start-Up (Tex-RAMPS) scheme. </span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The Central Sector initiative aims to enhance the coverage, quality, timeliness and credibility of textile-related statistical products and research outputs.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px"><strong>Strengthening State-Level Textile Data Systems</strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The agreements establish a structured operational framework to improve textile statistical systems across States and Union Territories. Under Tex-RAMPS, the focus is on integrated planning for key segments such as handlooms, handicrafts, apparel and technical textiles, with implementation centred at the cluster and district levels.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">To facilitate these reforms, the Ministry will provide an annual grant of Rs 12 lakh to each participating State or Union Territory. </span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">In addition, to strengthen grassroots-level planning, an extra grant of Rs 1 lakh per district per year will be extended, linked to the formulation and execution of district-specific textile action plans.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px"><strong>Boosting Cooperative Federalism in Textiles</strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The Ministry of Textiles said the MoUs reflect the spirit of cooperative federalism, with Centre and States working together to address data gaps in the sector. </span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Strengthening the textile statistical system is expected to support informed policymaking and help chart a credible growth roadmap towards the governments target of building a USD 350-billion textile industry.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px"><em><strong>(KNN Bureau)</strong></em></span><br /> </p> 44715 https://knnindia.co.in/news/newsdetails/sectors/textiles-ministry-signs-mous-with-15-states-to-strengthen-data-driven-policymaking 2026-01-09 13:44:14 knnindia.co.in
