India's Crude Oil Import Mix See Major Shift, Share of US Nearly Double

ENA Sectors 2026-01-29 16:22:17 New Delhi, Jan 29 (KNN) India's crude oil imports pattern has witnessed significant change over the past one year with the share of countries like the US, Egypt, UAE, Nigeria and Libya rising. As per Economic Survey 2025-26 tabled in Parliament on Thursday, crude oil imports from Libya, Egypt, Brazil, the US and Brunei increased significantly during April-November period of FY26 as compared to the same period in FY25. During the same period, crude oil imports from Russia, Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Venezuela declined. Although imports from other countries account for a significant portion of India's crude oil imports, the shares of the US, Egypt, UAE, Nigeria and Libya have increased, the Survey said. As per the key economic document, the share of imports from the US increased to 8.1 per cent during April-November period of FY36 from 4.6 per cent in the same period in FY25. The UAEs share during the same period increased to 11.1 per cent from 9.4 per cent while Egypts share increased to 1.4 per cent from 0.3 per cent. Nigeria's share increased to 3.3 per cent from 2.2 per cent and Libyas share increased to 0.5 per cent from 0.1 per cent. A notable increase in the diversity of countries from which India imports crude oil has been observed, the Economic Survey noted.
