Over 100 MSME Sellers, Buyers From 16 Countries Attend Reverse Buyer-Seller Meet In Shillong

ENA MSME 2026-02-04 13:41:01 Shillong, Feb 4 (KNN) The Meghalaya governments Department of Commerce and Industries, in collaboration with the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO), organised the Reverse Buyer-Seller Meet 2026 at the State Convention Centre in Shillong on Tuesday. The event was held under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance Scheme of the Union Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. The meet saw participation from 28 international buyers representing 16 countries, including South Africa, Zimbabwe, Slovakia, Türkiye, Nepal, New Zealand, Russia, Bahrain, Kenya, Australia, Uganda, Gambia, Azerbaijan, Sri Lanka, Canada and Romania, reported TOI. More than 100 MSME sellers from across Meghalaya took part in the programme. The initiative aims to strengthen export opportunities and improve access to global markets for MSMEs from the state. Addressing the event, Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma said the meet was the first of its kind not only for Meghalaya but for the entire northeastern region. He referred to the Meghalaya Livelihoods and Access to Markets Programme, supported by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), which was earlier recommended for closure due to weak performance but later gained global recognition as one of IFADs best projects. Emphasising gradual progress, Sangma said meaningful change requires sustained commitment, focus and a clear vision. On global trade conditions, the Chief Minister noted that while uncertainty persists, it also creates new opportunities, particularly in sectors such as textiles.
