ENA Sectors 2026-02-26 15:34:29 <p><span style="font-size:14px"><strong>New Delhi, Feb 26 (KNN) </strong>The Research and Development Centre of NMDC Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad to strengthen academic and research collaboration in the mineral and metals sector. </span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The agreement was formalised by Sanjeev Sahi, Executive Director (R&amp;D), NMDC, and the Dean (Sponsored Research &amp; Consultancy), IIT Hyderabad, in the presence of Prof. B. S. Murty, Director of IIT Hyderabad.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The partnership is aimed at advancing indigenous technologies in mineral processing and related domains. </span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">As part of the collaboration, the two institutions will undertake joint research in areas such as iron ore beneficiation and agglomeration, green steelmaking technologies, alternative iron-making using domestic raw materials, and advanced modelling and simulation of mining and metallurgical processes. </span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The MoU also envisages research in the extraction of critical and rare earth minerals from primary and secondary sources to support mineral security and resource resilience.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">In line with the ongoing digital transformation of the mining sector, the collaboration will extend to pilot initiatives and research in autonomous vehicle movement, artificial intelligence applications, Internet of Things (IoT)-enabled systems, Mining 4.0 frameworks, and drone-based surveying and monitoring technologies. </span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Commenting on the development, NMDC Chairman-cum-Managing Director Amitava Mukherjee said the agreement reinforces the companys commitment to innovation through industry academia partnerships. </span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">He noted that leveraging IIT Hyderabads research capabilities alongside NMDCs field experience would help accelerate the development of indigenous technologies in mining and mineral processing, contributing to long-term sectoral growth.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px"><em><strong>(KNN Bureau)</strong></em></span><br /> </p> 45289 https://knnindia.co.in/news/newsdetails/sectors/nmdc-iit-hyderabad-sign-mou-to-strengthen-mineral-security 2026-02-26 15:34:29 knnindia.co.in
