New Delhi, Feb 27 (KNN) The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) has upgraded the National Small Industries Corporation Ltd (NSIC) from a Schedule B to Schedule A category Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE), according to a notification dated February 26, 2026.

The ministry said the elevation to Schedule A status would positively impact NSICs management, operational and financial powers, thereby strengthening its ability to support micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) across the country.

NSIC, functioning under the administrative control of the Ministry of MSME, has been engaged in the promotion and development of the MSME sector for over seven decades.

It provides end-to-end support to enterprises throughout their life cycle through interventions such as skilling and capacity building, enhancing cost competitiveness, marketing assistance, credit facilitation, and provision of growth capital through equity investments.

The corporation also serves as an implementation partner for several aspirational programmes of the Government of India aimed at strengthening the MSME ecosystem.

The ministry noted that NSICs elevation reflects its consistent performance and institutional strengthening. The corporation received an Excellent rating from the Department of Public Enterprises (DPE) for the year 2024 25, underscoring its operational performance and sustained contribution to MSME development.

With enhanced financial and administrative autonomy under Schedule A status, NSIC is expected to further scale up its initiatives and deepen its outreach to MSMEs, reinforcing its role in promoting entrepreneurship and industrial growth.
