ENA State 2026-03-19 17:14:09 <p><span style="font-size:14px"><strong>Gandhinagar, Mar 19 (KNN)</strong> Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal has approved a Rs 472 crore project for construction of a Road Over Bridge (ROB) along with associated infrastructure at Tuna-Tekra, part of Deendayal Port in Gujarat.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The project includes key civil works such as viaduct structures, a bridge over a creek, and provisions for maintenance over a 10-year period to ensure long-term durability and operational efficiency.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The proposal had earlier been appraised by the Delegated Investment Board in a meeting chaired by the Secretary of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The ROB is strategically planned to serve as a primary connectivity link for the upcoming Mega Container Terminal, with a handling capacity of 2.19 million TEUs, and the Multipurpose Cargo Berth with a capacity of 18.33 MMTPA at Tuna-Tekra.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The infrastructure is expected to support seamless cargo movement and address potential bottlenecks between rail and road networks.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The execution timeline of the project is aligned with the commissioning of the Tuna-Tekra Container Terminal, which is currently at around 45 per cent physical progress.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px"><em><strong> (KNN Bureau)</strong></em></span><br /> </p> 45522 https://knnindia.co.in/news/newsdetails/state/sonowal-approves-rs-472-crore-rob-project-to-boost-tuna-tekra-port-connectivity-in-gujarat 2026-03-19 17:14:09 knnindia.co.in
