ENA State 2026-04-14 13:32:37 <p><span style="font-size:14px"><strong>Gandhinagar, Apr 14 (KNN) </strong>Gujarat has emerged as one of the top five states in India in the deployment of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), reflecting growing momentum in the countrys clean energy transition and grid modernisation efforts.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">According to data presented by the Ministry of Power, Gujarat currently has an installed BESS capacity of about 77 MWh, placing it fifth nationally after Bihar, Karnataka, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan, reported The Times Of India.</span></p> <p><strong><span style="font-size:14px">Driven by Energy Security and Renewable Integration</span></strong></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The states progress is being driven by increasing concerns around energy security, volatility in conventional fuel markets, and the need to integrate renewable energy into the grid more efficiently.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Industry players note that battery storage is becoming critical as renewable sources such as solar and wind are inherently intermittent, reported The Economic Times.</span></p> <p><strong><span style="font-size:14px">Strong Pipeline of Upcoming Projects</span></strong></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Despite its current ranking, Gujarats future pipeline remains robust. The Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission has approved tariffs for 1,665 MW/3,330 MWh of standalone BESS projects under a larger 2,000 MW/4,000 MWh tender floated by Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd, marking one of the largest battery storage procurements in the country.</span><br /> </p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Major industry players are also expanding their presence in the segment.
