Srinagar, Apr 17 (KNN) The Mission YUVA (Yuva Udyami Vikas Abhiyan) is being implemented as a flagship initiative by the Government of Jammu and Kashmir to promote entrepreneurship and generate employment among youth in the Union Territory.

Capacity building and institutional support
As part of capacity-building efforts, a two-day training programme for members of Small Business Development Units (SBDUs) and Block Handholding Desks (BHDs) was held at Indian Institute of Management Jammu on April 15 16, 2026.

The sessions covered key areas such as entrepreneurial mindset development, preparation of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs), credit facilitation, MSME support and onboarding on digital seller platforms.

Experts from institutions including National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Jammu and Kashmir Bank, Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) and BISAG-N participated in the programme.

Targets, incentives and ecosystem development
The multi-year programme aims to establish around 1.37 lakh enterprises and create approximately 4.25 lakh jobs over a five-year period by encouraging youth to transition from job seekers to job creators.

The scheme targets individuals aged 18 35 and provides a range of support measures, including financial assistance, training and mentoring. Under the initiative, capital subsidies of up to Rs 1 lakh or 25 percent of the project cost are offered for new enterprises, with higher benefits of up to 30 per cent extended to women and persons with disabilities.

Mission YUVA also focuses on building a support ecosystem through structured training, business mentoring and facilitation by designated Yuva Doots. Special outreach initiatives such as Roz-e-YUVA and Udyami YUVA Day are being organised to connect aspiring entrepreneurs with financial institutions and support agencies.

Focus on economic transformation
The programme aims to strengthen local entrepreneurship, improve market linkages and enhance employability through targeted skill development interventions.

Officials emphasised the need for coordinated efforts to strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem and ensure effective handholding of aspiring entrepreneurs.

The initiative is expected to play a key role in fostering a vibrant enterprise ecosystem and driving economic transformation in Jammu and Kashmir.
