Chhattisgarh Cabinet Cuts Property Registration Charges For Women By 50%

ENA State 2026-04-24 13:32:57 Raipur, Apr 24 (KNN) The Chhattisgarh cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, has approved a series of measures aimed at promoting womens property ownership, supporting defence personnel and strengthening the mining and agriculture sectors. 50 percent cut in registration charges for women In a major step toward womens economic empowerment, the cabinet approved a 50 percent reduction in land registration charges for properties registered in the name of women, reported Hindustan Times. The move is expected to encourage greater asset ownership among women, despite an estimated revenue impact of around Rs 153 crore on the state exchequer. Stamp duty relief for defence personnel The cabinet also cleared a 25 percent concession in stamp duty for serving soldiers, ex-servicemen and their widows for property purchases worth up to Rs 25 lakh within the state. The benefit will be available once in a lifetime and is aimed at providing financial relief to defence personnel seeking permanent housing. Amendments in mining rules The government approved changes to the Chhattisgarh Minor Minerals Ordinary Sand Rules, 2025, allowing sand mines to be reserved for public sector undertakings such as the Chhattisgarh Mineral Development Corporation Limited. The move is expected to improve supply, particularly in remote areas. In addition, amendments to the Chhattisgarh Minor Mineral Rules, 2015 were cleared to enhance transparency, curb illegal mining and streamline processes. Stricter penalties ranging from Rs 25,000 to Rs 5 lakh have been introduced for violations related to illegal mining, transport and storage. Support for livestock and agriculture The cabinet authorised procurement of vaccines for livestock from Indian Immunologicals Limited, a subsidiary of the National Dairy Development Board, to improve disease control and boost productivity. It also reviewed fertiliser availability for the upcoming kharif season and assessed LPG supply arrangements in the state. The decisions reflect a broader policy push to support inclusive growth, through womens empowerment, welfare for defence personnel, improved resource management and strengthened agricultural infrastructure.
