ENA State 2026-04-28 17:49:20 <p><span style="font-size:14px"><strong>Srinagar, Apr 28 (KNN) </strong>Union Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan handed over approval letter for road projects worth Rs 3,566 crore under PMGSY-IV (Batch-II) to Jammu &amp; Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, aimed at boosting rural connectivity in the region.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The approvals were announced at a programme in Srinagar, where the Minister also highlighted that total road project sanctions for the Union Territory have reached nearly Rs 8,000 crore within a year. He said the initiative is focused on connecting remote habitations and improving access to essential services such as education, healthcare, and markets.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">In addition, a Mother Sanction of over Rs 4,568 crore was released under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM) for women Self-Help Groups across 24 States and Union Territories, aimed at strengthening womens livelihoods and entrepreneurship.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Shivraj Singh Chouhan emphasised that the governments approach extends beyond infrastructure to integrated rural development, including agriculture and livelihood generation. </span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">He highlighted the role of scientific farming, improved planting material, and integrated farming models involving allied activities such as animal husbandry and fisheries to enhance farmers incomes.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">He also announced that experts from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research will study Jammu &amp; Kashmirs agro-climatic conditions to prepare a comprehensive agricultural roadmap.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Speaking at the event, Omar Abdullah described the approvals as significant and assured timely implementation, noting that improved road connectivity is critical for the regions development given its challenging terrain.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The initiatives are part of broader efforts to strengthen rural infrastructure, promote inclusive growth, and enhance livelihood opportunities across Jammu &amp; Kashmir.<br /> <br /> <em><strong>(KNN Bureau)</strong></em></span><br /> </p> 45955 https://knnindia.co.in/news/newsdetails/state/projects-worth-over-rs-3566-crore-cleared-for-jk 2026-04-28 17:49:20 knnindia.co.in
