ENA State 2026-05-07 13:39:03 <p><span style="font-size:14px"><strong>Lucknow, May 7 (KNN)</strong> The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet has approved a proposal to provide enhanced compensation to farmers for land falling under high-tension power transmission towers and overhead transmission lines.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Announcing the decision after a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Energy Minister Arvind Kumar Sharma said farmers will now receive 200 percent compensation for land under transmission tower bases and 30 percent of land value for areas affected by overhead power lines.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The revised compensation policy will apply to land impacted by 765 kV, 400 kV, 220 kV and 132 kV high-tension transmission lines passing through agricultural fields, reported PTI.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px"><strong>Revised Compensation Structure Announced </strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">According to the minister, land directly beneath transmission towers, including a one-metre radius around the tower base, will be compensated at twice the prevailing land value. </span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Farmers whose land falls under overhead transmission corridors will receive compensation equivalent to 30 percent of the land value.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Sharma said the revised policy is expected to increase compensation payouts to farmers by around 21 to 33 percent compared to the existing provisions.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px"><strong>Move Aimed At Easing Infrastructure Execution </strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The Minister noted that prior to 2018, there was no compensation for land affected by transmission towers or corridors. </span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Although compensation norms introduced in 2018 allowed up to 85 percent of land value for tower base areas, farmers had continued to raise concerns over inadequate payouts.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The minister said the updated compensation framework follows revised guidelines issued by the central government and aims to ensure fair compensation while facilitating smoother implementation of power transmission infrastructure projects across the state.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px"><em><strong>(KNN Bureau)</strong></em></span></p> 46040 https://knnindia.co.in/news/newsdetails/state/uttar-pradesh-enhances-compensation-for-farmers-affected-by-power-transmission-towers 2026-05-07 13:39:03 knnindia.co.in
