India-Commonwealth SME Trade Summit will help increase trade within the bloc: KK Jalan

New Delhi, June 1 (KNN) The India-Commonwealth SME Trade Summit will definitely help in increasing trade between SMEs within the Commonwealth bloc, KK Jalan, Secretary, Ministry of MSME told KNN.

Jalan was the Guest of Honour at the two-day India-Commonwealth SME Trade Summit held in the national capital on May 31-31, 2017.

Talking about the outcome of the two-day summit, Jalan said the SMEs of Commonwealth countries have adopted a declaration which talks of major things of cooperation which will boost trade between the Commonwealth countries.

Elaborating on the role that Ministry of MSMEs will play in association with the Ministry of Commerce to enhance the role of MSMEs in India’s overall trade, Jalan said there is a group of Secretaries looking after industry and commerce who sit together and work on major policies regarding the commerce and industry.

He said MSMEs have a major role to play in this.

The Summit, first of its kind, was supported by Ministry of Commerce & Industry and was organized in association with the India –Commonwealth SME Association (ICSA):  a joint initiative of the Commonwealth Secretariat, London and India’s three premier industry bodies: Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and industry (FICCI), Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Federation of Indian Micro and Small and Medium Enterprises (FISME).  (KNN Bureau)
