Entries sought from SMEs, start-ups for Global Cleantech Innovation Programme

New Delhi, July 28 (KNN) With the view to promote clean technology innovations amongst Indian MSMEs, entries have been sought from small and medium enterprises (SMEs) as well as emerging start-ups for the Global Cleantech Innovation Programme (GCIP).

GCIP is run by United Nations Industrial Development organization (UNIDO) in association with world's largest clean technology accelerator (Cleantech Open USA). The Ministry of MSME in partnership with UNIDO launched GCIP in 2013 for promoting Innovations in the Indian SMEs in clean technologies.

The applications have been invited from the SMEs with innovative products under the categories- Energy efficiency; Waste Beneficiation; Renewable Energy; and Water Efficiency.

SMEs, emerging startups and entrepreneurs with an innovative technology can submit an online application before August 8, 2017.

The Programme is focussed on enhancing both emerging Cleantech start-ups and the local entrepreneurship ecosystem and policy framework.  It aims at promoting Clean Technology Innovations and Entrepreneurship in selected SMEs in India through Cleantech Innovation Platform and Entrepreneurship Acceleration programme.

The shortlisted semi-finalists will gain access to mentors, investors and sustainability programmes.

The top-two finalists will compete at Global Cleantech Competition – ‘Cleantech Open Global Forum 2017’ to be held in February 2018 in California, USA.

The Cleantech Open is a not-for-profit organization that runs the world’s largest accelerator for cleantech startups. Their mission is to find, fund and foster entrepreneurs with big ideas that address today’s most urgent energy, environmental and economic challenges. (KNN Bureau)
