IIM Indore to launch new Training for SMEs on ‘Managing Innovation in Small Businesses’ with National & Intl Experts

New Delhi, Nov 18 (KNN) Following the successful launch of training course on “Managing Innovation in Small Businesses” in ISB in the beginning of November, IIM Indore is now geared to introduce the training course for SMEs in Indore jointly with Gesellschaft fuer Internationale Zusammenarbeit, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MoMSME) and Steinbeis Germany.

The first training which is offered at an attractive subsidized rate will start on November 28 with 5 days practical training till December 2 followed by a 4 weeks implementation break and ending with a 2-day finishing school on 6-7 January 2017.

The workshop aims to enhance the innovation management capacity of SMEs and is also designed to equip the participants with hands-on tools to start or manage product, process or business model innovation in their enterprises. It includes exercise based sessions, practical case studies and an opportunity to work on individual innovation ideas/projects - supported by experts and facilitators from Germany and India.

The starting point will be from Georg Villinger from Steinbeis Germany on September 26, 2017 in the pre-course of the training programme outlining the importance of Industry-Academia linkages and giving SMEs the chance to interact with a technology expert who has been serving the SME sector all his life.

The training format which was piloted in August 2016 in Bangalore with 25 SMEs participating from across India has shown first successes.

An Indore based SME went back after the training to work on its portable toilet to reduce cost for transport and packaging. In the six week break with the support of Steinbeis experts, the SME owner developed a foldable frame for the toilets which is now half of the size thus consuming less packaging.

A Pune based SME initiated an idea competition among their employees after the training course. Formats for evaluation were developed and the idea competition was integrated in the KPI of their employees. In the first month the management team received 25 ideas out of which half can be implemented in real time.

Established in 1996, IIM Indore is the sixth in the family of state-supported management schools. Since its inception, IIM Indore has been acting as a leader in the field of management education, interfacing with industry, government sector and PSUs.

The training has been initiated within the framework of Indo German Bilateral Development Cooperation programme “Innovation Promotion in MSMEs”; Implemented by GIZ and office of DC MSME, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India.
