MeitY to meet industry representatives on May 24 for promoting Digital Transactions

New Delhi, May 23 (KNN) Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY) is conducting a meeting with Industry Associations on May 24, 2017 to build a conducive environment for promotion of digital payments.

In the Union Budget 2017-18, announcement was made regarding target of 2,500 crore digital payment transactions for 2017-18 through Unified Payments Interface (UPI), Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD), Aadhar Pay, Immediate Payment Service (IMPS) and Debit Cards.

MeitY has been taking several initiatives to promote Digital Transactions including Digital Payments.

In order to achieve this target MeitY is working on various strategies and is operating with multiple stakeholders including Banks, Central Ministries/ Departments and State etc to create a conducive environment to enable digital payments across the country.

“Participation of Industry/Industry Associations would help to build the environment for promotion of digital payments,” MeitY said in a communication to industry associations.

In this regard, MeitY is conducting a meeting with the representatives of Industry Associations, under the chairpersonship of Secretary, Meity, on May 24, 2017 in the national capital.

The industry associations that will be participating in the meeting include – Assocham, FICCI, FISME, ACMA, SIAM, IBJA and more. (KNN Bureau)
