MRP-other details ‘mandatory’ for online sale: Consumer Affair Ministry

New Delhi, Jan 2 (KNN) Eyeing at safeguarding the online consumers, the earlier announced norm is to come into action from January 2018 that mandates printing of information including MRP along with other important details.

The enactment of the norm comes as a follow-up of the announcement made by the Consumer Affairs Ministry in June 2017.

The firms were given a period of six months to take up the new rule.

As per the amendments, goods displayed by the seller on e-commerce websites should contain declarations required under the rules.

Also the Ministry had made special note that the items should be declared identical MRP as on the pre-package commodity and no dual MRP’s should be played.

The new set of rules comes in the backdrop of leading e-market players including Amazon and Flipkart customer’s approaching the government protesting against the misinformation as well as lack of information on the online commerce portals. (KNN/DA)
