Now tourism becomes industry for land use purpose in Haryana

Chandigarh, Sep 13 (KNN) With a view to boost tourism in the state, Haryana government has declared tourism as an industry for land use purpose, as per the media report.

A notification to this effect has been issued, said Principal Secretary, Industries and Commerce Department, Devender Singh.

As per the policy, all tourism projects or activities mentioned in activities relating to amusement or recreation or theme parks, adventure tourism projects, heritage hotels with the exception of standalone activities like hotels, tourist resorts, food streets or outdoor dining areas or promenades or food courts or restaurants and commercial components within recreational and commercial activities would be classified as land use under industry, he said.

These provisions would be applicable to mega projects only involving an investment of Rs 100 crore or above or employing more than 500 people.

The conditions would also be applicable with prospective effect to all the new as well as expansion projects, that is expansion proposals involving an investment of Rs 50 crore or more, he added.
