Belgium to invest in Industries in Uttarakhand, assist in Smart City Project
New Delhi, May 24 (KNN) The European country Belgium has recently expressed its interest to invest in the industries in the state of Uttarakhand.
A delegation of Belgian trade counsellors led by Belgian Ambassador Jan Luykx recently met Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Trivendra Singh Rawat. During the talks the delegates have proposed investments in sectors including the herbal, food processing, aromatic plantation and spice sectors.
Also talks on collaborating to establish a cold storage chain in Uttarakhand took place
The investment collaboration will help boost the ties between the two countries and will also contribute to the economic growth and employment generation in the region.
Belgium have also offered assistance to the state government in designing the plan for the proposed Smarty City Project in Uttarakhand.
Other key discussions include collaborations on tourism, renewable energy generation with special focus on solar energy.
CM Rawat announced setting up of a joint working group to explore the possibilities and monitor the implementation of the proposed projects.
Chief Secretary S Ramaswamy who was also present at the meeting said that Uttarakhand holds huge potential in attracting investments as the state offers sustainable ecosystem for the industry with proper infrastructure, ensured power supply, and easy licensing procedures in place.
He further said that since the state is in proximity with the national capital, there is good scope of connectivity with the rest of the country.
