Center for excellence for Virtual and Augmented reality to come up in Bhubaneswar
New Delhi, Jan 22 (KNN) Centre of Excellence for Virtual & Augmented Reality” (VARCoE) is to come up at the campus of IIT in Bhubaneswar.
Odisha government MSME Department and Software Technology Park of India, Susmita Bagchi, a noted Odia writer and philanthropist signed a memorandum of understanding with IIT, Bhubaneswar for the establishment of an Incubator in order to promote research, technology incubation and product development for the benefit of industry and the society.
The Centre will meet the needs of startups and new generation entrepreneurs working in the area of Virtual Augmented Reality for immersive visualization and allied areas and offer course AR/VR to students and provide specific skill development programs as per the requirement of industry.
MSME Minister Prafulla Samal said “the proposed incubator at IIT, Bhubaneswar will focus on the futuristic field of Virtual and Augmented Reality”.
He further added “State Government and MSME Department are committed to achieving the vision of supporting 1000-Startups by 2020.”
MSME Secretary said 162 Startups ranging from healthcare & life sciences to HR & household services, IT and IOT to Finance Technology & Food Services are registered under the Startup Odisha Initiative and 20 of them are getting benefits 04 recognized and 20 other incubators are working across the State for incubation of the startups.
This landmark initiative will encourage and empower the incubates and start-ups graduating from IIT Bhubaneswar to join STPI for the benefit of industry. (KNN/YV)
