Centre planning to set up Technology Centre for MSMEs in Tripura; fund to be released soon

Agartala, June 26 (KNN) Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) Kalraj Mishra announced setting up of a Technology Centre for MSMEs in Tripura.

Mishra on Sunday inaugurated a new building of MSME-DI and mini tool room in Agartala.

He said the newly opened Centre will impart training for different enterprising activities and it will help the youths in setting various micro and small scale industrial units for self-reliant.

He said the Central Government is planning to sanction a Technology Centre for the state that could be beneficial for prospective entrepreneurs and added, "An amount of Rs 20 crore will be released for this purpose aiming to usher in new opportunities for the unemployed youths of the state."

The Minister asked  the state government to take the full advantage of Pradhan Mantri Employment Generation Program (PMEGP) of KVIC and similar other programmes to address the unemployment problem.

 "Tripura is enriched with a variety of quality bamboo and bamboo artisans will be able to utilize the Centre for improving quality of their products. Rubber growers will also be able to derive benefits from this Centre and increase earnings", he observed.

Mishra also released the 3rd volume of success stories of incubatees.

Chief Minister Manik Sarkar stressed on better coordination between Centre and State for real development of the State.

He said, "Creating job opportunities alone will not be sufficient, along with self-enterprising initiatives, it is essential to create market for the products of the Self Help Groups as well as augment purchasing power of common people."
