Facebook collaborates with Odisha Govt to train 25,000 MSMEs-SHG by 2019

New Delhi, Aug 10 (KNN) Eyeing at accelerating entrepreneurship in the region, the social media giant Facebook has signed a pact with the Odisha Government to educate over 25, 000 Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and Self Help Groups (SHGs). The collaboration aims to help the MSME sector as well as the SHGs in the state of Odisha go digital.

Facebook will conduct training program and workshops to enable the entrepreneurs to sell their products online. Also the program will assist the MSMEs and the SHGs in expanding their customer base by deploying their products online.

Regions with MSME clusters including Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Balasore, Berhampur, Angul, Sambalpur, Rourkela, Rayagada, Jeypore, Puri and Keonjhar are being mapped for the training programs.

Also the collaboration lays special emphasis on the MSME operated and run by women.

Rajat Arora, Policy and Programs Manager (India and South Asia) of Facebook in a press interview highlighted the importance of having an inclusive approach towards digitalisation of the MSMEs in India.

As a kick off, a workshop for MSME women entrepreneurs is being conducted today at Bhubaneswar with over 800 women entrepreneurs as participants. (KNN/ DA)
