Gujarat dye manufacturers planning to set up company to avoid China dependence

Ahmedabad, Oct 12 (KNN) Dye manufacturers in Gujarat are planning to set up a company to locally manufacture two key raw materials namely, vinyl sulphone and H-acid in order to reduce industry’s dependence on China.
Recently, Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) too had called for a boycott of China-made products.
According to a media report, Naroda Industries Association (NIA), Vatva Industries Association (VIA) as well as Gujarat Dyestuff Manufacturers Association (GDMA) through their affiliate companies are planning to jointly establish a manufacturing facility to make 1,000 tonnes H-acid and 500 tonnes of vinyl sulphone every month.
The report added that Green Environment Services Co-operative Society Ltd, an entity formed with a support from VIA, GDMA and Naroda Enviro Projects Ltd (NEPL), an affiliate firm of NIA, will jointly implement the Rs 400-450-crore project.
The media report quoted GDMA member as saying that if Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) gives its permission for this manufacturing facility and smaller dye-makers agree to buy certain quantities, they will go ahead with the project.
