New Delhi, Apr 24 (KNN) In a bid to handhold the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) of the state, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Monday announced reduction in power tariff for the sector. 

The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) having connected load up to 20 KW would now have to pay 4.75 rupees per unit as against to the previous tariff of 6.65 rupees per unit.

The announcement is to be implemented from May 1, 2018.

The difference in the previous amount and the new amount is to be transferred later by the state industries department into the bank accounts of the beneficiaries under Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

The announcement by the Haryana CM came during a delegation meeting led by industry body Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) at his residence.

Commenting over the latest development, State Industries and Commerce Minister Vipul Goel said that with the revised tariff, the state is set to pose itself as a favourable destination for the micro, small and medium enterprises.  The new rate is to prove as a big step taken by the government towards promotion of industries in the state, the minister added.

Earlier, talking to KNN over the power tariff issue, Rajiv Chawla, Chairman of Faridabad Small Industries Association said that the decision once implemented is certainly a positive one for the industries of the state.

Chawla informed that the industry had been engaged in continuous dialogue with the government for quite some time demanding incentive-subsidy along the line. (With Inputs from a media report) (KNN/DA)
