Kashmir industries demand MSME Ministry's Economic Advisor's intervention in MSME policy of J&K

Srinagar, May 26 (KNN) The economic advisor has been requested for the intervention in MSME policy for Jammu & Kashmir by the PHD Chamber of Kashmir.

With a view to discuss issues related to business and industry in Kashmir, Economic Advisor of Union MSME Ministry DPS Negi held meetings with business community during his state visit.

In a meeting with Kashmir chapter of PHD Chamber, Participants demanded Union Ministry of MSME's intervention for J&K in manufacturing as well as the service sectors including hospitality, handicrafts and handloom.

Principal Secretary Finance Department Navin Kumar Choudhary was also present during the meeting.

In this regard, the Chamber presented a memorandum to Negi, asking for the intervention in MSME policy for J&K which included separate guidelines for Hospitality (Tourism), Handicraft and Handloom sector under MSME that should cover all the benefits which the North Eastern States are currently availing under NEIDS (North East Industrial Development Scheme-2017).

“All the schemes and programs of the ministry should be implemented in J&K and should be at par with NE states”, chamber requested the economic advisor.

Further, the chamber requested the economic advisor to help in the allocation of central grant for setting up of 12 Rural Industrial Estates in J&K under MSE-CDP Scheme of MSME, for revival and Rehabilitation of sick units in J&K.

In a separate meeting, Federation Chamber of Industries Kashmir (FCIK) met Negi and put forth a number of demands including special funds for land bank.

The meeting was held in presence of director industries, Kashmir, Bilal Ahmad Bhat.

President FCIK Mukhtar Yousuf demanded special strategy and concessions for the entrepreneurs of the state, in particular matters of the finance and banking.

Special relaxations in trade and industry are approved for the state particularly the valley and other disturbed areas.
