Jammu, Apr 11 (KNN) The micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Jammu are incurring heavy losses as they have to run their units on DG sets in the wake on poor power condition in the region.

In this regard, Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA) held a meeting of its members.

During the meeting, the industrialists showed their resentment in respect of non-restoration of 24 Hours Power Supply to the industrial sector by the Power Development Department which was withdrawn by Chief Engineer on May 30, 2016, BBIA said.

BBIA General Secretary Ajay Langer said, “In spite of repeated assurances given by the Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Kumar Singh who is also our Power Minister no action has been taken by the Department to restore the 24 Hours Power Supply to the Industrial Sector which shows the casual attitude of the Department towards the Industrial Sector who is working in spite of all the odds.”

The MSMEs said that on one side government is inviting industrial houses to setup their units in the state with a promise to provide uninterrupted power supply while on the other hand it has failed to provide uninterrupted quality power to the existing industrial units.

BBIA said the Department is also losing 10% revenue due to non-supply of 24 Hour Power to the industrial sector in spite of the fact that the power is available at the Grid Stations.

The industry has appealed the Nirmal Kumar Singh and J&K Industries & Commerce Minister Chander Prakash to intervene into the matter and issue immediate orders for the restoration of 24 hours uninterrupted power supply to the industrial sector. (KNN Bureau)
